Enrichment at Riston CE Primary Academy

A Small School with Big Ambitions

Welcome to a school where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to look beyond the horizon. Nestled in the heart of our rural community, we provide a nurturing family atmosphere combined with a global outlook.

We pride ourselves on being a place where curiosity is sparked, kindness is a way of life, and every pupil is empowered to discover their unique potential. Whether in the classroom, in the forest, or on a residential adventure, we are dedicated to helping our children grow into confident, compassionate citizens of the world.

Beyond the Classroom: Living Life in All Its Fullness

At our school, we embrace our identity as a rural village school. We believe our setting provides the perfect springboard for children to leap into the wider world. We don’t just teach lessons; we offer experiences designed to prepare children for life in a global society, ensuring their destinies are at their doors.

🌍 Expanding Horizons

  • We use innovative tools and partnerships to bring the world to our village:
  • Global Perspectives: Using programs like Lyfta and Picture News, children explore diverse cultures and current events.
  • Live Lessons: Interactive sessions allow our pupils to share their voices and—more importantly—listen to the views of others far beyond our walls.
  • Ebor Academy Trust: Our partnership with Sigglesthorne CE Primary and the wider Trust creates a “big school” community with “small school” care.
  • This includes shared Forest School sessions and joint visits.

🏆 Leadership & Life Skills

  • We believe every child is a leader in the making. During their time with us, every pupil will hold a leadership role, such as:
  • School Council & Pupil Parliament
  • Digital Leaders & Sports Leaders
  • Librarians and many more!

🎒 Visits, Visitors & Vital Experiences

  • Learning is an adventure that often requires a coat and a pair of boots! Our curriculum is enriched by:
  • Specialist Tuition: Professional instrumental coaching for budding musicians.
  • Educational Visits: Purposeful trips to places like Sewerby Hall, the Houses of Parliament, and Eden Camp.
  • The Annual Residential: A highlight of the year where children build independence, resilience, and lifelong friendships through outdoor adventure.

⚽ Clubs & Competition

  • After-School Clubs: A vibrant range of activities running daily from 3:30pm to 4:30pm.
  • Sports Partnership: We take great pride in competing in inter-school competitions, teaching our children the value of teamwork and fair play.
