Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you so much for supporting our Global learning day by gaining sponsorship for your children in our great water carry. Please could all sponsor money be handed in by Friday 5th April. It was exciting to get live updates throughout the day from Sierra Leone who were participating in the same learning. The children showed our values beautifully and showed a great understanding of social justice in their discussions following the event. Shared work will continue and be planned through our International Pupil Council which we are working to establish as a collective with our benefice here and with our partners in Sierra Leone.

Children at Wisdom Primary carrying water they have collected and enjoying their Global lesson.

This week has been an incredibly busy start with four visitors coming to see us from the academy. We had a brilliant focus day with the mathematics leader for EBOR yesterday. She was very impressed with the standard children were working at and spent the full day immersed in our classrooms enjoying the learning. In addition we had the academy IT specialist in working with Miss Groom to get some exciting developments in how we use our IT ready for September. The whole staff benefitted from some expert chrome book training and we can’t wait to see this in our classrooms.

Today we have opened our doors to two teachers from neighbouring schools who have asked to come and see our learning. The feedback from all of our visitors is always superb – the compliments your children receive for their superb learning behaviours and manners is always at the top of any feedback. It’s always lovely to share this feedback with the children and a great testament to the hard work of the staff and children. I am once again left feeling very proud of all the children.

Wishing you all a lovely Easter.
Kind regards,
Mrs S Hall

Attendance and from the office

Our target is 97% for the school. Our attendance is at 96.2% which is very close to us hitting our target. Thank you for supporting us in making sure your child is in school and ready to learn every day. An updated copy of your child’s attendance will be sent home on Friday in your child’s book bag. Certificates for children achieving 100% attendance for Spring term will also be awarded this week.

SATS

Children in Year 6 and Year 2 will be sitting their SATS this May. For parents wanting to see an example of the types of papers your child will be completing and to have more information provided by the class teachers; a session will be running on Wednesday 24th April directly after the drop in. Mrs Densely will lead the KS1 SATs (Year 2) information at 4.00 in the Topcats classroom and Mrs Buttifant will lead the KS2 SATs (Year 6) information session in the Highflyers classroom. If you are unable to attend these sessions and would like further information please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s class teacher.

Thank you for your help

As we come to an end of a busy term, it is a brilliant opportunity to pause and reflect on how lucky we are for all the great helpers and volunteers that come in to school to help learning and to keep the place looking good! Our PTFA are integral to this work and have done a brilliant job with leading the fundraising this year! Our thanks must go to our parent at The Bay Horse pub who put on a fantastic quiz night to raise much needed funds for a sport kit. Our reading volunteers give us a brilliant opportunity for our children to read aloud and help us with all the book changes, an essential job in school! And last, but not least, to those that have helped to keep our school looking beautiful by helping with the school grounds and planting. We are lucky to have such a supportive school community. Your help is greatly appreciated by us all.
